Learning online this Lent

Cross hung in the CathedralAsh Wednesday falls on February 17th this year - and while it can sometimes seem as if we've been in a continual Lent since last year (!) this is an opportunity to dig deeper and renew ourselves spiritually after all that we have been experiencing.

We are offering two very different opportunities: Bishop Donald's reflections on Hebrews - a rich text, but one which needs (and repays) unpacking; and joining with our friends at St John's in a series which offers us new perspectives from some wise and experienced guides as we face up to the challenges of our times and look to build our resilience and renew our confidence in the promises of Christ.

The Very Revd Chris Dalliston, Dean of Peterborough

It is expected that a Eucharist for Ash Wednesday will be live streamed from the Cathedral via Facebook and YouTube on 17th February at 5.30pm.

Cathedral Lent course on Tuesdays

The Cathedral will be offering a Lent course via Zoom, on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm. It will be based on a series of short video talks by Bishop Donald about the New Testament Book of Hebrews. The Bishop’s introductory talk will be followed by an online discussion led by one of the Cathedral clergy.

The Lent course will take place on Tuesdays 16th and 23rd February, 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd March. All are welcome so if you would like to join in, please email dean.pa@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk to ask for the Zoom link.

St John’s Lent Talks on Thursdays - Restored by Grace

St John’s Church is offering a series of Lent Talks under the title of ‘Restored by Grace’. Each talk looks at a different way in which God restores us to resilience and rescues us when vulnerable or oppresse,d and how poetry can revive and renew us. The talks will be offered via Zoom so that there can be an opportunity to ask questions afterwards, and the evening will end with Night Prayer. Further details can be found here: https://peterboroughparishchurch.wordpress.com/2021/02/03/lent-talks-2021-restored-by-grace/.
