It’s been another difficult and frustrating year.  Once again the decision was made to hold our AGM on Zoom rather than , as we had hoped, to enjoy a day together with the Old Choristers.  We have been able, however, to make a substantial contribution towards the costs of installing state-of-the-art live streaming systems into the Cathedral,  such an important part these days of its activities and mission.

As we try to look forward, may I invite you to note two important dates.

First, on Sunday the 6th February 2022, Her Majesty the Queen will mark the 70th anniversary  of her Accession to the throne.  To celebrate this extraordinary event, the Peterborough diocese branch of the Prayer Book Society  (PBS) is hosting a choral evensong at All Saints’ , Northampton, on that date.  The afternoon starts with a Lecture at 3pm, followed by tea, and then the service at 4.30pm the preacher will be our good friend Canon Bruce Ruddock.  All are welcome, whether or not members  of the PBS; there is no charge, but booking is required.

This should be a very special occasion, and I hope many of you will be able to join us.  Details are available from the PBS and on its website — or do please contact me if that would be helpful.

Secondly, we are (again) hoping to arrange a full Friends Day and AGM, to be shared with the OCA, to include a lecture and lunch.  Full details will be sent out in due course.  But please note the date — the 18th June 2022.

The Council are also considering other possible events for 2022, and we plan to produce the Journal in its traditional format for despatch sometime around Easter.

Please feel free to contact the Dean or myself with any comments, suggestions, or questions.

Finally, may I take this chance to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a healthy,  peaceful and productive New Year.

David Way
