Embroidery Workshop for Beginners

Spend the day enjoying the spring flowers in the beautiful Cathedral grounds. In the learning centre, our course leaders will teach you some basic stiches. After lunch, you will design and make an embroidered Easter card.

10.30am - 4.00pm

Taking inspiration from the beautiful Cathedral grounds, participants will work towards the design and creation of an embroidered Easter card.  Our workshop leaders will guide you through a range of basic stitches before helping you to create your own unique design. All materials will be provided

Tea, coffee and a light lunch will be provided

Course leaders: Elaine Harburn and Caroline Hawkins

Both Elaine and Caroline are experienced embroiderers. Following an ‘A’ Level textiles module, Elaine went on to study City and Guilds Embroidery Parts 1 and 2 and has never stopped sewing since.  She has exhibited with the Peterborough branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild of which she was chair for several years. 

Caroline has been sewing and dressmaking since she was 10.  She has been teaching a number of courses for North Northants Adult Learning since 2016, including dressmaking and embroidery, art history, silversmithing and art clay.   

Both Elaine and Caroline are involved with the Cathedral ceiling embroidery project.
