Sun 13th October - Pedestrian access only to the Cathedral due to the Great Eastern Run

Frequently Asked Questions

Please read these FAQs carefully before booking your tickets.

Note particularly point 4, about how to move your tickets to a different date if your plans change, and point 4 about no refunds.

1. What kind of show is this?

Starlight is a sound and light artwork taking place inside and outside the Cathedral. It is an immersive sound and light installation on the walls and ceiling of the Cathedral interior and the West Front, and does not have a beginning and an end, so you can explore in your own timeThere will be very limited seating in the Cathedral as the idea is to move around within the light show and food and beverages will be available to purchase.

2. How strict are the arrival and departure times?

It is important to arrive promptly for the time shown on your ticket. It may not be possible to admit latecomers.

There is no fixed time to leave the Cathedral once you are inside. We would expect your whole visit, to last around one hour.

3. Where should we park? Where are the entry and exit points?

There is no parking available at the Cathedral. The nearest carparks are behind the Cathedral or Bishop's Road. This year entry will be via the Cloisters entrance, and exit via the Wheelyard or the Norman Arch.

4. What if I want to move my booking to a different time or date?

Given enough notice, we can exchange your ticket(s) for the same show at a different date or time if you email info@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk. Please note that this may not be possible if the event is fully booked, or it is the last day of the event. In that case no refund can be offered.

5. If I can’t come, can I get a refund?

You could exchange your tickets for a different date in advance (see 4 above). We are not otherwise able to offer refunds. Ticket Source offers you an option to insure your tickets, so you may like to consider this when you book.

6. Will we have to queue up to get in?

Yes, for a short while. We ask you to arrive shortly ahead of your ticket time so that you can be admitted promptly. Instructions will be sent to ticket holders nearer the time.

7. Is this event wheelchair accessible?

Yes, there is level access inside the Cathedral, although there are some old, uneven surfaces and care needs to be taken.

A wheelchair accessible toilet is available just outside the South Transept, next to the other toilets.

Please note that there will be no Blue Badge parking on site, due to the nature of the event.

If you would like to ask us about any other special access needs, please get in touch via info@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.

8. Will tickets be on sale at the door?

Yes, tickets will be on sale at the door if they are available. Please note that several sessions of the event sold out last year, so we strongly advise that you book your tickets in advance.

9. Do you take group bookings and is there a discount for groups?

Yes, groups of more than 10 qualify for a discount. Please email to let us know your preferred date and time, and the number of your group, then we will come back to you: info@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.

10. Where do we go on arrival?

Please come to the Norman Arch entrance in Cathedral Square and our team of helpful volunteers will show you where to go. Take a look at this video for more information:
