Keen amateur photographers are invited to sign up for two half-day photography workshops at Peterborough Cathedral on Saturday 27th April. The workshops will be led by experienced photographer, curator and tutor, Adrian Stone.
The Upper Level Photography Workshop, from 9.30am to 12.30pm will climb up to explore the Cathedral from above, taking in the amazing views of the architecture below. It will also visit the Library, with its quirky carvings and studious atmosphere. Both spaces are only occasionally open to visitors for tours, so this is a great opportunity to spend some time here with your camera.
The Ground Level Photography Workshop, from 1.00pm until 4.00pm, will concentrate on the ground level of the Cathedral, both inside and outside.
Both workshops are an opportunity pick up tips about selecting the best vantage points, using depth of field, and lighting your subject to simplify and strengthen your images.
Participants should bring their own camera. All photographic equipment is suitable including camera phones. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Adrian Stone, who is leading both workshops, has been both the Curator and Education Officer at The Photographic Angle, a national photographic charity. He has also taught at City College Peterborough for five years and judges, lectures and runs photography workshops in the East and South East.
A further workshop, an Advanced Photography Masterclass, is scheduled for Friday 16th August, from 10,00am to 4.00pm. This will explore both upper and ground levels of the Cathedral. A special student rate is offered for the masterclass, so that full time students on vacation can make the most of this opportunity.
