Peterborough Cathedral to host a spectacular son-et-lumière show

Wednesday 10 November

From 24th to 27th November, Peterborough Cathedral will host the son-et-lumière performance, The Angels are Coming.

This stunning light and sound show, which runs each evening, has been created by the artists of Luxmuralis and will transform the magnificent west front and nave of the Cathedral with light projections and music.

The show is timed for the start of the Advent season, pointing towards Christmas and bringing the nativity story and our festive traditions to life in a new way.

The performance begins with a light spectacular outside, accompanied by music especially composed by David Harper. Then the audience moves into the Cathedral to “walk amongst the stars” and immerse themselves in the light projections filling the nave as atmospheric sound surrounds them.

The show was last performed at Sheffield Cathedral in 2019, where the audience described it as: “Absolutely fantastic, so thought provoking, simply beautiful!” and “So inspirational. Highly recommended.”

Peter Walker, the Artistic Director of Luxmuralis, said:

“Luxmuralis is delighted to be bringing its work to Peterborough Cathedral for the very first time. We can’t wait to see The Angels are Coming bathe the iconic west front in light and take the audience on a journey of the imagination, seeing this iconic place in a way they never have before. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to come together to experience something of the awe and wonder of the season.”
