Planning your visit

It is free for individuals to enter the Cathedral and visitors are invited to give as generously as they can to help with running costs. There is an entry charge for groups. Please check here for details.

Normal Cathedral visiting hours

You will find a list of our Opening Times here. Occasionally visiting times are restricted due to events and services so do check the Opening Times page before you come.

Photography and filming

You are welcome to take photos with a hand held camera or phone for personal use. Anyone wishing to film or take photographs for other reasons (including student projects, wedding photography, images to promote organisations and businesses, or images for public broadcast), or using a tripod or additional lighting, is asked to read our Photography, Video and Filming Policy before their visit.

Take a Tour

We offer free Cathedral Highlights tours at 11.00am and 2.00pm on most dates, from Monday to Saturday. These offer a fascinating introduction to the Cathedral's history with one of our knowledgeable volunteer guides. Sometimes the tours cannot take place due to events and services so do check the Opening Times page for information. Donations are invited.

Making a donation

We are always grateful for any financial gift, no matter how large or small. There are donation points around the Cathedral which accept cash and card. Your support is greatly appreciated and goes a long way in helping us. If you are unable to make a donation during your visit but would still like to do so, there are three ways:

Give online: by following this link to the Peterborough Cathedral Virgin Money Giving page.

By text from your mobile phone: Text PBOR12 to 70070 plus the amount you would like to give.

By cheque payable to Peterborough Cathedral: post this to The Cathedral Office, Minster Precincts, Peterborough PE1 1XS. It helps us a great deal if you include a Gift Aid declaration with your donation if you are a UK tax payer.

Visiting with children

Children and young people are very welcome at the Cathedral. From Explorer Backpacks for little ones to an augmented reality app for teenagers, there are plenty of ways for families to get to know the Cathedral and have a great day out. Find out more here: Visiting with Children

Group visits

Due to the busy programme of the Cathedral, groups of 10 or above should always book their visit in advance. There is an entry charge for groups. Please follow this link for Information about admission for groups.
