We know how photogenic the Gaia Earth artwork by Luke Jerram will be, so we are delighted that our media partner, the Peterborough Telegraph, is running a photography competition alongside the exhibition.

Entries can either be uploaded to Instagram, tagging in @peterborough_cathedral and using the hashtag #EarthArtworkPboro, or emailed to news@peterboroughtoday.co.uk.

All entrants must abide by the following terms and conditions:

  • Only photographs taken on handheld cameras or phones will be considered (no video, tripods or special lighting).

  • Photographers must have the permission of any recognisable people featured in their photographs before submitting them. Photographs with children must have the express permission of the child/children’s parent or guardian. Evidence of this may be requested.

  • Photographs must not be taken whilst a service is in progress, or of the choir whilst they are rehearsing.

  • Photographers agree to respect the privacy and personal space of other visitors.

  • Photographers will only work within areas of the Cathedral that are open to the public.

Closing date

The competition will open on Monday 19th August 2019 and will run until Sunday 1st September 2019. Entries will be judged by the Peterborough Telegraph team, with the winner being announced on Thursday 5th September 2019.


First prize will be a signed copy of Luke Jerram’s book, Art, Science and Play, plus a selection of eco-friendly products from the Cathedral shop. The winning photograph will also be printed in the Peterborough Telegraph and featured on the paper’s website.

Any entries submitted may be featured by both the Peterborough Telegraph and on the Cathedral’s social media.
