This is the principal weekly act of worship in the life of the Cathedral on Sunday, when the congregation are fed and enriched by listening to Holy Scripture and by the sacramental presence of Christ in bread and wine. The service is enfolded in fine music and the preacher is usually one of the Cathedral clergy.
Matins and Evensong
These are the two principal 'Offices' of Morning and Evening Prayer. They have been offered here, every day, for hundreds of years. The Bible is read and canticles and psalms are said or sung. Evensong is normally sung by the Cathedral Choir from Sunday to Friday during term time, and sometimes by visiting choirs on Saturdays and during school holidays.
