Choral Evensong on the 20th anniversary of the fire

Sunday 21 November 2021 15:30 - 16:30

A service of thanksgiving, in recognition of the support of all those who helped the Cathedral when fire broke out, and in its aftermath.

In the early evening of 22nd November 2001, a fire broke out in the Cathedral resulting in very serious smoke damage. The building was just minutes away from catastophe and, were it not for early detection and a swift response from the emergency services, the situation could have been disastrous. As it was, a lenghy period of cleaning and restoration followed.

This is an opportunity not only to give thanks for those who helped at the time, but also to pray for those who continue to support and care for the Cathedral to this day.

All are welcome to attend the service. Booking details (if any) to follow.

Before attending, please note our Covid guidelines for worshippers.
