Architecture enthusiasts will love this! A day of exploring Peterborough Cathedral, inside, outside and upwards, in the company of a knowledgeable guide.

Spend the day exploring the intriguing architecture of Peterborough Cathedral by booking a place on our Architecture Walk and Upper Levels Tour combo.

The Architecture Walk

Join Cathedral guide, Sue Mashford on this guided ground level walk to explore the Cathedral’s unique and unusual architecture. Visitors will begin by seeing the site of the now demolished Lady Chapel and consider the sacred geometry of the iconic West Front, before stepping inside to marvel at the Cathedral’s famous Norman structure whilst discovering some later architectural styles. The walk will give visitors the opportunity to consider theories about the original purpose of some of the Cathedral’s features during this fun and fascinating insight into some of the Cathedral’s quirkiest bits!

This tour will take visitors to see closer views of the medieval glass, masonry and masons’ marks. With fantastic views of the Cathedral interior it’s a great opportunity to take pictures of the Cathedral from above before climbing up into the roof space, central tower and the tower top exterior. Visitors finish by exploring the bell tower which includes a stop to see our medieval windlass and concludes inside the West Front gables.
