Bishop of Peterborough's 2013 Easter Message

28-03-2013 10:00

Polls suggest that fewer and fewer people know the Easter Story. Most people, even non-Christians, know something of the meaning of Christmas, at least that December the 25th marks the birth of Jesus. Volunteering & Guiding

Volunteering

The day to day operation of the Cathedral is supported by a large and committed volunteer team which helps out at events and generally performs a number of tasks that keep the Cathedral open 364 days a year.

We are always grateful for any support offered by members of the congregation or supporters of the Cathedral.

If you are able to give your time, either occasionally or on a permanent basis, please contact Canon Missioner Jonathan Baker or his P.A., Amber Homer-Wooff, on 01733 355300 or at Amber.Homer-Wooff@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.

Guiding

As well as our volunteers we have a number of Cathedral guides who lead Cathedral tours. The Education and Visitors Office welcomes enquiries from anyone who is interested in joining the guiding team for our organised tours.

It is not necessary to be a member of the Cathedral congregation or even a regular church goer, but we do expect guides to be in sympathy with the mission of the Cathedral and to present the faith and worship of the Cathedral in a positive light.

The twelve-week training course to become a guide normally takes place every alternate year. We hope the next course will begin in May 2013. There is a written test at the end of the course and you will be expected to do further training with an existing guide before leading your own tours.

For further information on becoming a guide contact Amber Homer-Wooff on 01733 355300 or email her at Amber.Homer-Wooff@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.
