The Cathedral is open 364 days a year (closed on Boxing Day). Whilst the Cathedral and its Precincts are open from early morning to early evening every day of the week for Morning Prayer and Evensong, general visiting hours are as follows:
Mon-Fri 9.00am - 5.00pm
Saturday 9.00am - 3.00pm
Sunday 12.00pm - 3.00pm
There may be some restricted access due to services and events so please check for alterations prior to your visit. Disabled access is available to most areas and parking can be arranged in special circumstances. There is no charge for admission but donations are politely requested.
Access to the Cathedral and grounds is available between the following times, however there may well be services or other events taking place outside of the normal visiting hours mentioned above and visitor facilities may be restricted.
Mon-Fri 7.30am - 6.30pm
Saturday & Sunday 7.30am - 5.00pm
The Cathedral is always open from Morning Prayer at around 7.30am until after Evensong seven days a week. Visitors are welcome to join us for these services but please note that welcomers, tours, coffee shop and shop staff may not be available at morning prayer or Evensong at the very beginning and end of each day. Visitor are most welcome however, to stay and join us for either of these daily services however, so please click here to find out more.
Please note: all gates and exits from the Cathedral, except the pedestrian entrance at Wheel Yard, are closed before 7am and after 6.30pm so access to Cathedral Square is closed outside of those times. There is also now a parking barrier in place at the vehicle entrance to the Cathedral as parking is restricted to those with authorised access (disabled provision can be arranged by calling 01733 343342).
