The Company of St. Peter - An Overview

The Company of St. Peter is the main fundraising initiative for Peterborough Cathedral.

It was established in 2001 by The Peterborough Cathedral Development and Preservation Trust and has raised over £2,383,500 to support the ministry, fabric and music of this great Cathedral Church.

Members of The Company give financial and prayerful support to the development of the Cathedral’s ministry, music and fabric. In return benefits to members include:

  • Special invitations to Cathedral events and services
  • Specifically arranged tours and a programme of events exclusive to members
  • A social outlet offering the opportunity to meet other Cathedral supporters from all walks of life
  • Newsletters, exclusive news and regular updates on Cathedral projects, events and developments

There are currently around 150 members and we welcome enquiries from anyone who would like to join. You can become a member of The Company at various levels, starting at £250 annually, which can be paid in monthly instalments and gift aided, in return for the benefits above.

Alternatively, you can become a ‘Partner’ by giving smaller regular donations and in return you will receive regular Newsletters.

As well as being a membership scheme, The Company of St. Peter manages the fundraising for major projects and appeals for Peterborough Cathedral, such as the Emergency Fire Appeal in 2001. Over £1.2 million was raised for extensive cleaning and restoration following the fire in the Cathedral, in November 2001.

The Company is currently fundraising for The West Front Project – a restoration and conservation project to preserve and maintain the iconic West Front for generations to come. For more information about our other fundraising initiatives please click here.

Within this section you will find further details of our history and the ways in which the funding raised helps to support the Cathedral, as well as the social highlights of recent months. It also features our events calendar, newsletters and image galleries for you to find out what The Company of St. Peter can offer you in return for an annual subscription.
