Support - New vision for development and sustainability
In
2018 we will celebrate 900 years since work began to build the great Norman
Abbey which we know today as Peterborough Cathedral.
Our past is about a faith community responding to
changing needs and opportunities for service.
Today
this Cathedral is
- A focus for the life and work of the
Church in the Diocese of Peterborough.
- A people committed to worship, prayer and
pastoral care giving hospitality and welcome to both visitors and pilgrims.
- A heritage icon at the heart of a vibrant
city, well placed to address the challenges of the 21st century.
Our
vision for the future
1. Education and outreach
- Establish a centre of Christian study for
people of all ages.
- Create a Music Education Centre for the
community as well as the Cathedral.
- Enhance the heritage interpretation of the
Cathedral and Precincts.
2. Community and hospitality
- Improve the access and presentation of the
Precincts in partnership with the City.
- Upgrade the facilities for visitors and
pilgrims.
- Establish ‘drop-in’ facilities for those
in need including the homeless, and ex-service personnel (in partnership with
Combat Stress).
3. Spirituality – worship and prayer
- Enhance the Living worship, that is both
consonant with the past and explores new forms.
- Provide a state-of-the-art sound system.
- Upgrade the Nave Sanctuary furnishing and
fabric.
