Music - Related Events

The Music Department puts on a number of concerts and events throughout the year, including The Diocesan Choral Festival, Be a chorister for a day and the popular Cathedral Christmas Concert which takes place in the ten days before Christmas.

The Music Department also provides support at our key services such as St Peter’s Day, Remembrance Sunday and over Advent & Christmas, not to mention singing every evening at choral Evensong.

Recent projects have also featured the Cathedral Choir working with award-winning ensembles such as ‘His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts’ and ‘Charivari Agréable’. The Choir also sings concerts in churches around the Diocese throughout the year as well as taking part in Cathedral Open Days and similar events.

Two Organ Festivals have been held in 2005 and 2008, building on the legacy of the Cathedral Festival (1982-1996). In 2009 a Haydn Festival was held to launch our new Cathedral Music Association.

The Choir tours regularly, and has recently sung concerts in Paris, the Netherlands and Ireland, the Loire Valley, as well as in venues in the UK.

As well as performances by our own Cathedral Choir, the Cathedral also welcomes visiting choirs on a regular basis, with recent events including the Great Fen Concert and performances by both Peterborough and Stamford Choral societies.
