Mission - Welcome

Peterborough Cathedral is as powerful a sign of the Christian Faith as ever it has been.  It is still very much a living and working church, as it has been since the Reformation.

It is the Cathedral Church for the Diocese of Peterborough – one of 43 dioceses of the Church of England and part of the Anglican Communion.

Members of any faith are welcome to enjoy the building, our services, the grounds and our events at any time of the year, yet the forming principle of our Cathedral – as for every Christian community – is the worship of God.

Through our community, outreach, ministry and mission we spread the word about the Christian faith and the teachings of the Lord. We offer advice, encouragement and support for anyone wishing to join us and do the same.

The Cathedral community is vast and extremely varied, ranging from our staff and congregation
to our visitors and trustees – all of whom are integral to the development of its mission and ministry and the preservation and maintenance of this sacred place.

This section provides information about our dedicated staff, our cathedral community, the local and global outreach work in which we are involved, pastoral care and our Diocesan links, as well as the Religious Teaching we offer as part of our mission, and how to get involved with the Christian faith and preserve the Cathedral for generations to come.
