Visiting Choirs

Visiting choirs regularly sing Evensong on Saturdays during term time and weekend services during choir holiday periods. Choir residency weeks are also available during the summer and half terms.

Coming to sing at the Cathedral can be extremely rewarding and we are keen to encourage choirs to take up this opportunity. We can offer a wonderfully clear acoustic for choral music and a stunning building. It should be noted that the Cathedral's Hill organ is undergoing refurbishment to alter it from Old Philharmonic to Standard pitch from July 2015. A chamber organ and an electronic organ will be used for services until the Hill organ is playable again in early 2017.

We are enormously grateful for the work that visiting choirs put in to enriching our worship while the Cathedral Choir is away, and we aim to do everything possible to ensure that a choir’s visit is both successful and enjoyable. Interested directors of visiting choirs will bear in mind the importance of ensuring that a high standard of performance and choice of music is offered for all services.

From September 2015, Saturday Evensong will take place at 5.30pm rather than 3.30pm.
