Guiding
As well as our volunteers we have a number of Cathedral guides who lead Cathedral tours. The Education and Visitors Office welcomes enquiries from anyone who is interested in joining the guiding team for our organised tours.
It is not necessary to be a member of the Cathedral congregation or even a regular church goer, but we do expect guides to be in sympathy with the mission of the Cathedral and to present the faith and worship of the Cathedral in a positive light.
Training to become a guide normally takes place in the autumn and winter with a 12-week course beginning in September or October. There is a written test at the end of the course and you will be expected to do further training with an existing guide before leading your own tours.
If you would like to guide school groups you will need to undergo a basic CRB check. For further information on becoming a guide contact Andrew Watson on 01733 355300.
