Peterborough Cathedral has charitable status and receives no direct funding from the state to help raise the £3,500 required every day to maintain the operation of the Cathedral 364 days a year.
We are strongly supported by the Peterborough Cathedral Development and Preservation Trust but rely heavily on the generosity of our visitors, supporters and patrons to provide the £1.3 million required each year to maintain and operate the building and support its purpose.
This vast sum of money does not however, include the extra funding required to carry out vital restoration and development work, special events, extra activity or outreach work across Peterborough and further afield.
We must therefore raise the necessary funds in the best way we can through numerous fundraising initiatives to keep the Cathedral open for the generations to come.
This section details a little of where the Cathedral’s finance comes from, a great deal more about where the majority of our funds need to be spent and a number of ways in which you can help to support the Cathedral financially should you so wish.
We have a number of options available to those generous individuals who would like to help from simply joining one of our fundraising bodies – The Company of St. Peter or The Friends of Peterborough Cathedral – to leaving a gift in your will.
There are also a number of specific and more unusual initiatives designed to cater for a variety of interests and provide a fantastic choice for those who wish to provide some kind of financial support including Benefactor Days, Pinnacle Pioneers and our Custodian of a Statue scheme.
Alternatively we welcome any one-off donations made either online or directly to the Cathedral. If you are interested in donating in this way to general funds, a specific project or scheme please to call the Trust Office on 01733 355315 or email trust@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.
