Filming & Photography

the barchester chronicles

At Peterborough Cathedral we welcome requests for any filming and photography of our magnificent Cathedral and the beauty of the location has seen it screen tested for Harry Potter and Elizabeth and even landed us a starring role in the Anthony Trollope film The Barchester Chronicles.

In addition, the BBC chose our awe-inspiring site to broadcast from live in 2008 for the Christmas Eve midnight mass and the televised Christmas morning service on Christmas Day. Thus we are experienced and amenable in our dealings with the media who may be interested in using the Cathedral as a location or set.

For one-off filming or photography requests, it is important to note that our quietest and therefore, easiest days to accommodate you are midweek any day except Wednesday.

Anyone wishing to film or shoot for a academic project or documentary is asked to please seek permission first and will need to purchase a licence for just £2 from the Welcome Desk on arrival.

Anyone interested in the Cathedral for filming and photography purposes is asked to please contact:
