Endowment Funds

There are three main funding areas to which a donor can donate, which have been set up to secure the future of the most vital but costly areas of the Cathedral’s work.

These are as follows:

The Hastings Music Endowment Fund was set up in 1996 to secure the future of choral music. This has been a long standing tradition at Peterborough Cathedral for many hundreds of years. Choral Evensong is still offered at the end of each and every day and our thriving Cathedral Choir supports our services on a regular basis throughout the year. Whilst music is imperative to the continued mission of the Cathedral, musical development and choristership is a costly affair. So the Endowment Fund was set up to underwrite a large proportion of this cost and thanks to numerous generous gifts, the capital of this fund is fast approaching £2 million. It includes one very generous donation of £250,000 from a former choir boy as well as thoughtful legacies that will all go towards musical development and supporting the Cathedral Choir for generations to come. The Ministry and The Fabric Endowment Funds were recently established to underwrite the aspects of the Cathedral’s life and work to do with ministry and mission, as well as architectural restoration and stone conservation to protect the building and the Cathedral’s work now and in the future. Again we are always grateful of any generous gifts, legacies and Benefactors – we already have our first Ministry Benefactor but there is room for more! One off donations are warmly received but a generous gift of £5000 to one of these funds will then allow the donor to be classed as a Cathedral Benefactor and entitle them to a dedicated Benefactor Day when they, a loved one or a person of their choosing is remembered at a Cathedral Service perpetuity. Alternatively to offer a more general donation to any of these funds or the Cathedral as a whole please contact the Trust Office on 01733 355315 or email trust@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.
