Advent and Christmas are beautiful seasons in the life of the Cathedral. Advent prepares us for Christmas and begins with the candlelit procession services. As Christmas approaches we hold our Christingle service for families and the Cathedral choir lead us further towards the great festival with their annual Christmas Concert. Early on Christmas Eve the local Salvation Army Band lead carol singing in the Cathedral which is usually attended by approximately 2000 people.
Christmas 2008 was particularly special at Peterborough Cathedral as BBC1 broadcast the Midnight and Christmas Day Eucharists. Viewed by almost 2 million people across the UK, the live broadcasts were the highlight of our year and we were thrilled to see a full Cathedral.
Plans for Advent and Christmas 2011 are already underway For further queries regarding services at Peterborough Cathedral, please call Jackie Newman on 01733 355 310 or e-mail jackie.newman@peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.
