Methods of Financial Giving
There are three normal methods of regular giving or providing donations -
1 Loose cash placed in the plate or donation box
2 By the envelope scheme
3 By Banker's Order
There are two advantages to using methods (2) and (3) -
Envelope Scheme
If you wish to join this scheme please contact the Chapter Office.
Banker's order
Forms are available from the Chapter Office. If you are gift aiding your contribution then the order should be made out in favour of the Diocese. This is because the Diocesan Office run a diocesan wide scheme by which the tax is claimed electronically from the Inland Revenue on a regular basis and therefore the tax is added quickly to your donation and the full amount paid over to the Chapter.
Gift Aid
If you are a taxpayer and complete a gift aid form then the Chapter is able to claim the tax on your donation thus adding 28% (at current tax rates) to your donation at no cost to you.
Once a gift aid form is completed it continues to apply and covers all future payments irrespective of variations in the amount of your donations. You should inform the Chapter Office if at any time in the future you cease to be a taxpayer.
Legacies
The work of Cathedral benefits greatly from bequests. Would you consider the possibility of remembering us in your will? Please contact the Chapter Office or a member of the Chapter for further details.
